Zee Hunter

I am excited to be part of this Art of Mindfulness project! Meditation and mindfulness saved my life. I am a Visual Studies student beginning an honor’s thesis for the final year of my BFA. I have a multidisciplinary art practice, including video art, photography, digital art, painting, and drawing. I am an independent filmmaker. I am an artist. Art saved my life too. Using a presence of mind, and art as therapy, I overcame years of crippling illness. I would not have been able to return to studies at the University of Calgary if not for adopting a daily meditation practice. I am performing better than I ever have before from learning how to cultivate an equanimous mind. I hope this Art of Mindfulness project will help others to be their best selves too. The benefits of learning to live in the moment, of neither resisting nor holding on to thoughts, emotions, and sensations, are immense (and backed by science!). I am extremely grateful to the STEM Art Hub and this project’s organizers for supporting this essential practice, and giving us selected artists a chance to contribute in spreading the invaluable benefits of mindfulness and meditation. Thank you.
